No pedestrian traffic is allowed on the beach or in the streets. The spot will be known to watchers as pecalang to know that this rule must be strictly obeyed. At night all the lights will be turned on. The hotel will close all the curtains so that no ray of light shines in from the outside. All sound and home music should be on the last volume.

In the afternoon before Niepia, and today before March 21, celebrations are held with giant papier-mache, called Ogoh-Ogoh, on the beach with great gamelan music.
